Hot air heat: warm air is blown out of registers. Makes use of furnace or heat pump. Note: a system using a heat pump can double as an air conditioning system.

Radiant floor heat: flexible pipe is run under the floor of a room. Hot water from a boiler or outdoor wood furnace runs through the pipes, heating the floor and thus the room (hot air from the floor rises).

If you are looking to have a system installed that uses a furnace or boiler, consider using a corn-burning unit or a wood-burning unit. Waste oil-burning units are also available.
